The transcription progress bar reached the end and a file was exported. Only when I listened again did I discover a long stretch of speech missing from the text. The software had done some work, but the result was incomplete.
After fixing that problem on September 7, I began putting a check after the completion message. Open the transcript, listen to suspicious gaps and check the important numbers. Skipping those small steps could leave me working from an incomplete record.
Later, with Alex, I saw a message saying a callback was being prepared while the phone stayed silent. I knew we had more work to do.
Now I ask tools to distinguish receiving a task, processing it, failing and having a result ready. Receiving means the message arrived. A ready result should have a file I can open or a call I can actually answer.
I still can’t judge every piece of code. But I can notice missing speech in my recording or a phone that never rings. That judgment remains part of making the tool.
