I needed more room to fix the transcript

The settings filled most of the window. The transcript I needed to edit had only a few lines of space.

Once a recording had been transcribed, all my attention moved to the text. A wrong word here, a paragraph break there, a speaker who had been mixed up. But the settings and processing status still occupied most of the window. I could see only a few lines of the actual transcript.

On September 5, I asked Codex to make room for the part I was using. File and language choices needed to be visible before a run. Afterwards, I needed a large editing area.

The same wrong word kept turning up, too. Fixing it once was fine; finding it a third time was tedious. I asked for a way to replace matching occurrences throughout the transcript. Names would still need a person to check them.

I also wanted the Word export to match the text I had just corrected in the window. Otherwise I would have to open the file and check whether my changes had survived.

These requests came from sitting there, correcting a transcript. When the program finished processing, my part of the work began. Scrolling, space and a cursor that stayed where I put it mattered a great deal.
